Charlie Craig State Fish Hatchery is a series of 17 ponds of varying sizes. Thirty-seven of the state's 41 shorebird species have been recorded at these man-made wetlands. Because Centerton is located less than 20 miles from Oklahoma, it’s a good place to look for Harris’s Sparrow, Great-tailed Grackle and Yellow-headed Blackbird.

Woolsey Wet Prairie Sanctuary (WWPS) is a wetland mitigation site adjacent Fayetteville's West Side Wastewater Treatment Facility. WWPS is a former seasonal wetland associated with Tallgrass Prairie habitat. The area is quite open and attractive to birds otherwise hard to find in an urban environment, such as Loggerhead Shrike and Northern Harrier.

Arkansas's largest state park in land area, Hobbs State Park-Conservation Area (HSPCA) covers 12,055 acres along the southern shores of Beaver Lake. This large tract of Ozark landscape consists of plateaus, ridges, valleys, and streams featuring an upland forest of pine, oak, and hickory. Broad-winged Hawk, Ovenbird, Cerulean Warbler, Worm-eating Warbler, Scarlet Tanager, and Bald Eagle have been recorded here.

Chesney Prairie Natural Area is one of the few unplowed Tallgrass Prairie remnants left on the Arkansas portion of the Springfield Plateau. Nesting birds include Dickcissel, Painted Bunting, and Loggerhead Shrike. During winter, search large flocks of White-crowned Sparrows for Harris’s Sparrow.

This 2,500-acre park provides some of the most spectacular Ozark Mountain scenery in the state. Over 170 species of birds have been recorded here, including: American Redstart, Chestnut-sided Warbler, Northern Parula, Yellow-throated Warbler, Rose-breasted Grosbeak, and Louisiana Waterthrush.
