Cherokee Prairie
Cherokee Prairie consists of three tallgrass prairie remnants: Cherokee Prairie N.A, H.E. Flanagan Prairie N.A., and Presson-Oglesby Prairie Preserve. Species that may be seen here include, Northern Bobwhite, Loggerhead Shrike, Bell's Vireo, Scissor-tailed Flycatcher, Sedge Wren, Grasshopper Sparrow, Savannah Sparrow, and Painted Bunting.

Magness Lake
Magness Lake is a privately owned, 30-acre oxbow lake, located east of Heber Springs. It supports the largest and oldest wintering population of Trumpeter Swans in the Southeast. Bufflehead, Mallard and Ring-necked Duck are common winter visitors, while Tundra Swan and Ross’s Goose can occasionally be seen here.

Mount Magazine
Birders and butterfly enthusiast alike ascend Mount Magazine for a chance to see Rufous-crowned Sparrows and/or Diana Fritillaries. Mount Magazine is home to 86 of the state's 134 resident butterfly species. With an elevation of 2,753-feet, Signal Hill is the highest point in Arkansas.

Lake Dardanelle and Lake Dardanelle State Park
Much of the lake is interspersed by river channels of the Arkansas & Piney Rivers and the Illinois Bayou. Shoreline, island and upland habitats vary from pine to hardwood forests. The presence of dabbling ducks attracts local duck hunters. Birdwatchers from across the state travel to the lake during fall and winter to see the ducks and gulls.
